spaCy-BRAGD provides Faroese morphological tagging with BRAGD as components for the spaCy NLP framework. It wraps the existing BRAGD XLM-R model and makes it possible to add Faroese part-of-speech and morphological tagging directly to a spaCy processing pipeline.
The package provides two spaCy components. bragd_tagger assigns part-of-speech tags, BRAGD tags and morphological features such as gender, number, case, mood, tense, person and definiteness. fo_case_fix is a separate post-processing component that addresses a known error in the current BRAGD model, where previously unseen masculine and proper nouns ending in -i may incorrectly be tagged as accusative rather than dative. The fix is intended to be removable once the underlying BRAGD model has been retrained to handle this case.
The components are registered automatically when the package is installed. The BRAGD model and tag mappings are downloaded from Hugging Face on first use, and processing can run on either GPU or CPU.
